We have gone through over 40 pairs of dead Li-ion batteries for our research. Surprisingly, we were able to recover many dead batteries brought back to life. We found that most dead batteries now have over 70% capacity remaining after our restore service, which means 17 miles or longer gliding distance. We feel that it will be such waste to refill all dead Li-ion batteries. So, we decided to provide Segway Li-ion restore service for customers who meet certain conditions. This way we can save your money and we can together save the earth!
Our refilled battery packs contain brand new 5.6Ahr high capacity Lithium Phosphate cells, which has exactly the same capacity compared to the original Li-ion packs.

Replace Battery Packs in Pairs - from Segway Manual
"Whenever you replace a Battery Pack, consider replacing both Battery Packs, and always use pairs of Battery Packs with the same chemistry. Replacing only one Battery Pack will not necessarily increase the performance or range of your Segway HT, because the Segway HT is designed to operate only at the level allowed by the lower-energy Battery Pack.
Redundancy is a critical safety feature built into the Segway HT. This applies to the Battery Packs.
Therefore, you should replace Battery Packs in pairs (except for the unusual situation where a Battery Pack is replaced because of damage or defect and the other Battery Pack is relatively new)".

We found out that there are other companies that are offering "Reconditioning Service" for dead Segway Li-ion batteries. We were surprised that their pricing is much less expensive compare to our Restore Service. However, we also found the reason why their pricing is so cheap. They stated on their website "We DO NOT open the case or replace any of the cells." and they still charge substantial amount of the fees for their services (considering what they do).
We know that there must have been many cases they were not able to revive dead batteries due to defective cells out of 184 cells in the Li-ion packs. It is true that there is still a good chance that all those 184 cells are in good condition and just need to be boost charged to make them into working condition. On the other hand, there are huge possibilities that just a couple of the cells are bad among the 184. Those bad/defective cells need to be replaced in order to make them work again. We had a few customers reported to us that the other companies told them that the circuit is bad so they could not revive the batteries after their "reconditioning service." That is completely non-sense how they can even find out if the circuit is bad without even opening the case and try changing the defective cells. Defective PCB (the control circuit in the pack) is very rare cases according to our records.
If your car won't start one day, you can jump-start your car or replace the battery. Basically other companies are charging you the fees just for the jump start your Segway. It is sometimes a good solution but not all the time. We understand that Segway riders need working battery no matter what! However, other companies can offer you only jumpstart service(Reconditioning Service) without any other backup options if their service fails.
The trouble is that customers might think our restore service is the same as the other company's "Reconditioning Service" and the only difference is higher pricing. Although we strongly believe that our restore service would be the only reliable & commercially rigid solutions for recovering dead Li-ion battery packs, we decided temporarily to offer the same service what other companies are offering but with less expensive cost (DO NOT OPEN THE CASE OR REPLACE ANY OF THE CELLS).
